SUMMARY:Conference Off-Site Institutes
DESCRIPTION:1. Creativity Workshop: Reinventing Programs and Events for Community Impact (TBD)"Whenever you hear about an innovative program or creative event\, do you ever ask yourself\, "Why didn't I think of that?" Well now you can! Arm yourself with the practical tools and techniques necessary to plan wildly successful and inventive programs and events."2. Behind the Scenes of Spring Training: Operations\, Partnerships\, and Game Day Experiences (Sloan Park)"Join us for a tour of Sloan Park to learn from the experts behind the scenes that make Spring Training happen!"3. Communicate to De-escalate (TBD)"It seems society is more divided than ever\, and that tumult presents itself in our daily lives. As employees of a Parks & Rec department\, there is often an expectation to "keep the peace"\, even in the midst of dealing with difficult personalities. Sometimes\, people who feel "wronged" are intent on venting their anger and they direct that towards staff. This can be challenging when one feels personally attacked for something that they may or may not have control over. It's easy to fall back on policy but oftentimes we see that an immediate explanation of the policy by the staff leads to escalation rather than resolution because needs are not being met. Through interactive exercises\, the National Conflict Resolution Center will teach best practices for managing upset individuals."Each attendee* will only be able to attend one of the OSI's. *In order to receive a member rate\, members must login. If you do not login in prior to registering\, thank you for your donation.
