The City of Avondale is Accepting Applications for Aquatics Maintenance Coordinator in the Parks, Recreation & Libraries Department

This position oversees the upkeep, maintenance, installation, and repair of equipment at the Avondale Aquatic Center, fountains, and splash pads to ensure optimal functionality, safety, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include servicing and repairing pumps, motors, chemical feeders, and related plumbing and electrical systems; performing routine cleaning and safety inspections; and maintaining chemical and supply inventories. 

Occasional duties involve minor construction and repair work (e.g., electrical, plumbing, painting, concrete, welding), pool deck and equipment setup for events, and furniture movement. Additionally, this position supervises, trains, schedules, and evaluates Aquatic Specialist staff, supports marketing initiatives, and assists with budget development and monitoring.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.   

Minimum three (3) years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of swimming pools and associated equipment. One (1) year of supervisory experience is preferred. 

Required:

•    A valid Arizona Driver's License at the time of hire. 

•    Possession of Certified Pool Operator’s (CPO) license or Aquatics Facility Operator’s (AFO) certification, or ability to obtain within six months of hire. 

•    Must be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification upon hire. 

Preferred:

Bilingual skills in Spanish are highly desirable. 

Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP).
